Nei
primi anni del ‘70 cominciava l’avventura di un gruppo musicale nei Castelli
Romani, a pochi passi da Roma (Italia). Le armoniose melodie del rock
progressive e le magiche storie incantate si intrecciavano con le canzoni
melodiche della musica leggera.
I Sigmund Freud nacquero durante una
splendida estate del 1972. Immediatamente si ispirarono al rock progressive del
momento e cosi nacquero brani di una
musicalità originale, personale e viva. Una fusione armonica dove ciascuno
aveva una parte da svolgere usando quello che aveva: il suo strumento. Pochi
effetti, tanta musica. Le immagini delle
parole si intersecavano con i colori della musica creando armonie e giochi
fantastici dei protagonisti in storie metafisiche, quasi surreali. Fino al 1978 parteciparono a
moltissimi concerti e raduni rock che si tenevano nella capitale,
nell’hinterland romano e in numerose piazze italiane. Ovunque ricevevano
calorosi consensi ed apprezzamenti per la loro musica. - È difficile descrivere
la musica dei Sigmund Freud, bisogna ascoltarla -. Tanti bellissimi ricordi di
concerti a Villa Ada, Villa Pamphili, Conca d’Oro, tanto per citarne alcuni.
- Nel 1975 abbiamo
registrato per due etichette, la RCA e la EMI, ma non fu possibile, per motivi
interni, arrivare alla realizzazione di un album-.
Oggi
con un nuova formazione composta dal fondatore del gruppo, Claudio Ciuffa, troviamo Evandro
Gabiati alla batteria, Dino Pacini
alla chitarra, Marco Cavaterra al
basso, Claudio Carbonetti al
pianoforte e sintetizzatori e Luca Allori
chitarra e voce solista.
Con
la collaborazione dell’etichetta discografica BLACK WIDOW RECORDS
di Genova – Italia, il gruppo si è chiuso in uno studio e hanno registrato
tutti i vecchi brani composti in quegli anni, mantenendone l’originalità e il
sapore degli anni ’70, e presentano l’uscita del primo CD e LP per tutti gli
amanti del Rock Progressivo targato 70’s.
I brani sono gli stessi che hanno scritto e suonato in quegli anni, piccoli
ritocchi agli arrangiamenti, suoni vintage e molto Hammond, Mini Moog e
Mellotron.
– Siamo
orgogliosi di far ascoltare qualcosa di “nuovo” che vada ben oltre le
tantissime cover che tanti artisti propongono normalmente. Abbiamo una grande
voglia di suonare, la musica è vita -. - Non sarà solo un
concerto musicale ma l’incontro di varie arti come teatro, danza e tante altre
sorprese, vogliamo dare al pubblico uno spettacolo multiforme che lo coinvolga
dall’inizio alla fine dell’ultima nota -.
Ecco una piccola sinossi dei brani: Fiori di Polvere Bianca è
l’incontro di un giovane con la droga, il labirinto di una inutile libertà. Palla di Neve è la storia
di quanti subiscono violenza, la sopraffazione del forte sul debole. Palla di
Neve è il povero schiavo che viene deportato in America a piantar cotone,
venduto all’asta come un quadro e disprezzato, bastonato, il tutto sotto uno
stesso cielo, uno stesso Dio. E qui il rispetto civile tra tutti e con tutti. Giochi
d’Ombre è una dolcissima canzone.
Una sequenza di immagini a
cui non possiamo non riconoscerci. La nostra giovinezza volta al cercare mondi
inesistenti, collocazioni familiari e genitori diversi da quelli che ci hanno
generato. Epilogo è l’isola in cui vivere soli o con la
propria donna e arrivare poi a rendersi conto che tutto quello di cui avevamo bisogno era a due passi. L’avevamo
sempre avuto vicino, non lo vedevamo o non volevamo vederlo? L’abbattere
ogni comunicazione con il mondo esterno, a loro dire, avrebbe risolto i
problemi o le aspettative, invece l’infinito non è percorribile ed il miracolo
viene distrutto, frantumato da quei sogni che inutilmente erano stati creati. La
Quiete dopo la Tempesta è
l’esplosione, il grido di uscire dal guscio, imparare a farsi largo tra la
società cercando la strada giusta e rispettando il prossimo.
Inoltre il gruppo
presenterà alcuni
brani che faranno parte
del prossimo lavoro
come: Nel Giardino della Fantasia
quasi una lettera alla
propria amata, forse le parole che non ha mai avuto il coraggio di dirle; Le Ali del Vento un brano dedicato
alle persone con disabilità ma felici di essere nate; Ballata è un viaggio tra
castelli incantati, Re e Regine e menestrelli; Pendragon la storia di regnanti che si cimentano a
cacciare una povera volpe, La
Casa dei Sogni, la realtà e la
fantasia e La
Carrozza del Duca, un viaggio
tra immagini e pensieri e, inoltre, Il
Principe dei Ghiacci, Artù e
i dubbi di Ginevra, C’era una
Volta, Sogno di una
Notte d’Inverno e Camminando
con Andy.
– Abbiamo voluto
riproporre i brani come li suonavamo negli anni ’70, per cogliere e dare le stesse
sensazioni che ci hanno ispirato nel comporli-.

In
the early 70s, the adventure of one of the most famous groups of Castells Romani, a few
steps from Rome (Italy), began. The harmonious melodies of progressive rock and
the magical enchanted stories intertwined with the melodic songs of pop music.
Sigmund Freud were born during a
splendid summer in 1972. They were immediately inspired by the progressive rock
of the moment and thus songs of
an original, personal and lively musicality were born. A harmonic fusion where
each had a part to play using what they had: their instrument. Few effects,
lots of music. The images of the words intersected with the colors of the music
creating harmonies and fantastic games of the protagonists in metaphysical,
almost surreal stories. Until 1978 they participated in many concerts and rock
gatherings that were held in the capital, in the Roman hinterland and in
numerous Italian squares. Everywhere they received warm acclaim and
appreciation for their music. - It is difficult to describe the music of
Sigmund Freud, you have to listen to it -. Many beautiful memories of concerts
at Villa Ada, Villa Pamphili, Conca d'Oro, just to name a few.
- In 1975 we recorded for
two labels, RCA and EMI, but it was not possible, for internal reasons, to get
to the point of making an album-.
Today,
with a new line up consisting of the group’s founder Claudio
Ciuffa on guitar and flute, Evandro
Gabiati on drums, Dino Pacini on
guitar, Marco Cavaterra on bass, Claudio Carbonetti on piano and
synthesizers and Luca Allori on
guitar and lead vocals.
With
the collaboration of the Genova based record label BLACK WIDOW RECORDS, the group settled down in a studio and
recorded all the old songs they composed in that period, maintaining their
originality an ‘70s flavor. They present the release of their first CD and L’P
for all lovers of ‘70s progressive rock. The songs are the same ones they wrote
and performed in those years,
whith small tweaks to the arrangements, vintage sounds and plenty of Hammond,
Mini Moog and Mellotron.

something “ new ” that goes far beyond the many covers that many artists
normally propose. We have a great desire to play, music is life - . - It will not be just a musical concert but the meeting of various
arts such as theater, dance and many other surprises, we want to give the
public a multifaceted show that involves them from the beginning to the end of
the last note -.
Here is a short
synopsis of the songs: Fiori di
Polvere Bianca is the encounter of a young man with drugs, the
labyrinth of a useless freedom. Palla
di Neve It is the story of those who suffer violence, the
oppression of the strong over the weak. Snowball is the poor slave who is
deported to America to plant cotton, sold at auction like a painting and
despised, beaten, all under the same sky, the same God. And here is civil
respect between everyone and with everyone. Giochi d’Ombre is a very sweet song . A sequence of
images in which we cannot help but recognize ourselves. Our youth aimed at
seeking non-existent worlds, family placements and parents different from those
who generated us . Epilogo And the island where you can live alone or with
your woman and then realize that everything you needed was just a stone's throw
away . We had always had it close
by, we didn't see it or didn't want to see it? Cutting off all communication
with the outside world, they said, would have solved the problems or

re-propose the songs as we played them in the 70s, to capture and
convey the same sensations that inspired us in composing them -.
